Dr. Laleh Luksch arrived in Germany in 2008 as a Master's student—and has been on the other side of nearly every contract discussed in this workshop ever since. She worked as a HiWi, taught at language schools, spent years teaching at university, built her own consulting business, and has also worked in the private sector. She holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of St Andrews and has over a decade of university teaching experience, but the expertise she brings to this session comes just as much from having navigated—and occasionally fumbled through—every stage of the German employment system herself. Today she runs Dr. Luksch Professional Development and Consulting, helping international students and professionals across Germany do what she once had to figure out alone: know their worth, and negotiate for it.
