Are you in the final phase of your Master studies or already working in a research team and considering whether you should start a PhD after graduation? Perhaps your professor has already suggested a doctorate to you? The decision for or against a PhD depends not only on the suitable topic, but also on clarifying a variety of organizational and personal questions. What do I want to achieve with my PhD? Which doctoral path is the right one for me? How do I find a topic and a supervisor? Which formalities and regulations do I have to take into account (admission, status, scientific supervisor & supervision agreements, etc.)? Which funding options are possible? And where can I find support?
During the event „Career Option: PhD", you will meet three doctoral researchers and doctoral graduates as well as colleagues from the research department of the University of Potsdam who will provide insights from their personal PhD journey. They will talk about their individual ways of coping with these important topics and will be open for your questions. The session is jointly organized by the Career Service, Division 1: Planning, Statistics, Research Affairs and the Potsdam Graduate School on November 11, 2026 from 1 - 3 p.m.
